The company is opening 45 new stores over the next year and expanding into new markets after surpassing $1 billion in net revenue.
The El Segundo, California-based digitally native brand reported three consecutive years of double-digit same-store sales growth in its announcement and said its brick-and-mortar expansion was an effort to build on “the success of its proven U.S. retail model.”
CEO Adam Goldenberg said in the release that retail “has become an increasingly important growth driver for our business.” The company currently sells online in the U.S., Canada and Europe, and has more than 135 retail stores globally.
In its release, Fabletics added that it surpassed $1 billion in net revenue and said it was looking to double revenue and quadruple EBITDA over the next five years.
The global retail expansion is intended to “complement the company’s growing international e-commerce and wholesale businesses,” and is part of a larger development strategy, per the release.
"Our international growth is driven by a disciplined approach to market expansion and a commitment to delivering a consistent brand experience for customers around the world,” Meera Bhatia, Fabletics president, said in a statement. “As we enter new countries and scale our business globally, we’re focused on entering the right markets, leveraging local expertise and tailoring our approach to meet the unique needs of each region, while staying true to the Fabletics brand.”
Earlier this year, Fabletics worked with denim expert Benjamin Talley Smith to launch its first denim collection . The gender-inclusive line features 11 styles and includes jeans, jackets and a mini skirt. The company, founded in 2013, previously entered other nonathletic categories, including medical scrubs in 2023 and a casualwear line in 2022.
It’s reflective of a wider trend from athleisure brands including Vuori, Alo Yoga, Lululemon and Outdoor Voices, all of which have expanded their product offerings well beyond their core categories, albeit with varying degrees of success .
