New Balance’s Enduring Low-profile 327 Sneaker Just Got New Cow Print Makeovers and They’re Available Right Now

There are two styles to choose from.

Before New Balance’s low-profile 204L sneaker was introduced, it was the Boston-based sportswear company’s 327 silhouette that carried the 1970s-inspired torch. Introduced in 2020, the archive-inspired design grew to become one of New Balance ’s most ubiquitous models. It’s still going strong more than half a decade later.

Rather than let the model fall by the wayside, New Balance is keeping the 327 contemporary with a recent drop of two animal-printed styles. Cow prints cover the 327’s nylon base on a black-and-white Breakfast Tea/Pumpernickel/Sea Salt look (style code W327APA) alongside a brown-and-white Pumpernickel/Sea Salt (style code W327APC) execution. Aside from their patterned uppers, both pairs feature matching components including leather N logos, white flared midsoles and lugged rubber outsoles in black.

The 327 was designed by Charlotte Lee, New Balance’s design manager of EMEA energy and speed, and pulls inspiration from several archive New Balance sneakers including the 320, 355 and SuperComp, which inform the shoe’s aesthetic. Specifically, the 320’s nylon-and-suede construction, the 355’s trail-ready studded outsole and heel wrap and the wedge-shaped midsole of the SuperComp.

The model received momentum early on through a limited-edition collaboration with Parisian brand Casablanca and quickly became a favorite amongst female shoppers. Following the success of the 327, New Balance introduced other similar low-profile models such as the XC-72, but the 327 has withstood the test of time, remaining in production today. And while it’s given up some of its buzz to more recent sneakers like the aforementioned 204L, the 327 remains firmly situated as a street style staple.

Other recent related New Balance releases include the 204V , a mary jane-inspired spin on the 204L, as well as new looks for Miu Miu’s enduringly popular 530 SL collaboration . And in February, New Balance applied a similar cow print theme to the 204L .
