Nike’s Classic Air Max Just Got a New Denim-covered Makeover for Fall
The Air Max 90 has a new Black Denim colorway that's available in select regions now.
After a premium Shadow Brown release and a croc-covered white colorway for summer , Nike ’s classic Air Max 90 is taking on a stealthier look for the upcoming cooler weather.
Available now in select markets is the Nike Air Max 90 in Black Denim. As the sneaker’s nickname suggests, the retro Nike running shoe has been given an all-black makeover with denim paneling surrounding the model’s mesh base. Raw edges along the denim give the shoe a worn-in aesthetic, while the shoe’s eyelet and heel TPU panels feature wavy lines for a subtle spin on the traditional Air Max 90 look. A touch of nubuck on the mudguard adds texture to the style, while a matching leather Swoosh rounds out the material selection for this Air Max 90.

It’s worth noting that some markets where this new Air Max 90 style is currently available are listing it as the Air Max III, a slightly modified version of the sneaker which featured a tapered toe shape and construction more similar to the sneaker’s original 1990 form. A similar remastered approach was also used by Nike on 2025’s Air Max 95 Big Bubble and most recently, on this year’s Air Force ’01 releases.
While it may not always receive the same fanfare as other Air Max models such as the Air Max 95, Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 90 remains one of Nike Sportswear’s most iconic shoes. Best known for its original Infrared colorway, the model has also received significant collaborations including as part of Virgil Abloh’s original Off-White x Nike The Ten collection.
The Nike Air Max 90 Black Denim is available now from select international retailers including End, Footdistrict and Solebox. A wider stateside release is expected in the coming weeks. The sneaker has a full colorway of Black/Infrared 23/Cool Gray and its style code is IW6365-001. Retail pricing is 145 pounds, which converts to roughly $197 as of publishing.
