Nike’s Futuristic Flightposite Sneaker Is Getting a New Stained Glass Makeover That Doesn’t Look Like Any Pair You’ve Seen Before

At this stage, Nike’s various Foamposite franchises are no stranger to colorful graphic treatments — look no further than the soon-to-be-released Green Camo Air Foamposite Pro, 2027’s star-patterned 30th anniversary Air Foamposite One or the fabled Galaxy Air Foamposite One. And yet, it looks like the company’s Nike Sportswear division is experimenting with new ways to liven up the molded material.
Previewed by Nike designer Frank Cooke on Instagram is a previously unseen style of the upcoming Air Flightposite 3 reissue. Seen next to a previously seen Pink Rise colorway from Paris Fashion Week is a brand-new Air Flightposite 3 that’s been coated with a stained glass graphic pattern. The colorful style blends primary colors of blue, red and yellow alongside white and gold for an eye-catching spin on the futuristic model.

“Some take basketball as a religion,” Cooke captioned the photo, alluding to the Air Flightposite 3’s on-court roots and the rich connection between churches and stained glass windows.
The Air Flightposite 3 was introduced in 2001 as part of Nike’s highly experimental Alpha Project line. It was both the third and final installment of the Air Flightposite franchise, which was an even more futuristic take on its Air Foamposite sibling. The Air Flightposite 3 features two stability straps across the forefoot, which connect to lenticular “alien eye” pods on the shoe’s lateral and medial sections.
In addition to the Air Flightposite 3, the more familiar Air Foamposite One and Air Foamposite Pro models will soon see several new releases including a glow-in-the-dark look and NCAA-themed colorways for college football season.
Previously, Nike has released a stained glass-themed sneaker in collaboration with Concepts on the SB Dunk High.
As of publishing, there is no concrete release information for the Nike Air Flightposite 3 Stained Glass, but more details are expected to be revealed soon. What has been confirmed is that the Air Flightposite 3 will return to retail next spring in a variety of original and new colorways with retail pricing beginning at $240.
